John Lavin Obituary
John E. Lavin, 90, of Columbia, CT passed away on April 9, 2023. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 25, 1933, to Thomas and Mary (McGinley) Lavin.
He proudly served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean war. In 1954, he was united in marriage to Corinne O’Hara, and they had 68 years together. John was employed first in NY at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, then moved his family to Eastern CT to continue his career at the Groton location. He worked for Pfizer for over 30 years. He was an avid animal lover his entire life, having had numerous dogs including many English Bulldogs, the Marine Corps mascot.
John is survived by his wife, Corinne Lavin, daughters Mary Jane Lamitie, Patricia Delude, and Jean Lavin, four grandchildren Erin Schwaller, Matthew and Christopher Delude, and Carla Jean Krzywicki, one great grandchild Alvina Schwaller, and his brother James Celestino of Huntington, NY.
John’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic. His Funeral Mass will be on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi, 67 W. Town Rd. Lebanon.
