John J. Laboy Jr., 79, of Willimantic, husband of Joan (Zawierucha) Laboy, died Friday, October 12, 2012, at Windham Hospital. He was born December 29, 1932 in Willimantic, the son of John and Julia (Kusmierczak) Laboy Sr. and had lived in Willimantic all his life. He served in the CT National Guard from 1947 to 1950. He was employed for several years by American Screw Co. in Willimantic and then for 20 years at the Willimantic Savings Institute as Assistant Treasurer. Following that he worked in various positions at Brand Rex Company and then for 15 years at Gates GMC as a driver. John was a long time member of the Willimantic Elks, St. Joseph's Men's Club and the Pulaski American Club. In addition to his wife of over 60 years he is survived by two children, Marjorie Laboy-Vagell and her husband Brian of South Windsor and Thomas Laboy of Willimantic, a sister, Rose Longtin of Vernon, a granddaughter, Natalie LaChall as well as many nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, Willimantic with assembly at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to St. Joseph Church Renovation Fund, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic, CT 06226.
