John Joseph Jucius Sr., 86, a lifelong Connecticut resident, passed away at his home in Columbia on Saturday Feb. 2, 2002. Mr. Jucius was a retired teacher who served in the U.S. Navy in World War 2. He was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Assoc., the Phoenix Survivors Assoc. and the VFW Post #110 in Florida. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Marion. He is survived by his children; Judith Mahfood of Peachtree City, GA., George Jucius of Marlborough, Joan LaRue of Wrentham, MA. and John J. Jucius Jr. of Antelope, CA., his sisters; Anna Jacobs of Groton, Frances Pioggia of W. Springfield , MA. and Margaret Ausburger of Noank, his grandchildren; Joseph Mahfood of Peachtree City, GA., Mary Ann Jucius of E. Windsor, Thomas Jucius of Seal Island, Maine, Beth Jucius of Columbia, Josh Jucius of Marlborough, John Paul LaRue, Nicole LaRue, Jeffrey LaRue and Colette LaRue all of Wrentham, MA., Erin Brisbin of Antelope,CA. and Jeremiah Brisbin of Colorado Springs, CO. and his great grandchildren; Tasha Valentin-Jucius of Columbia and Reilly Olsen of Antelope,CA. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St .(Rte. 195) Willimantic on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00pm. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:00am prior to the procession to his 10:00am Funeral Mass at St. Columbia Church, corner or Rte 87 and Rte. 66, Columbia. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, Enfield. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial donations to either the American Cancer Society 238 W.
