John E. Hillhouse, 75, of Kingston, NH died April 5th at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, Massachusetts. He was born in Willimantic, Connecticut on October 24, 1928, the 3rd son of Kenneth N. Hillhouse and Florence Backus Hillhouse. He graduated from Windham High School in Willimantic in 1947, attended Yale University and graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York in 1958. He was an Interior Designer in Hartford, Connecticut for 22 years before becoming a professor at Endicott College where he spent 9 years teaching interior design. He was a member of American Society of Interior Design. He retired at the age of 69. Mr. Hillhouse sang in the Hartford Symphony Choral and had an avid interest in classical music. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife Sandra (Wilson) Hillhouse, son John Niles Hillhouse, daughter in law Diane and grandson William of Wesport, CT. Memorial services will be held Monday April 12th at 2:00 PM at the First Church of Christ, 250 Main St, Wethersfield, CT. There are no calling hours. Private burial will take place in the New Willimantic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Please visit at
