John Green Obituary
John Marshall Green, 73, of Ashford, CT passed away on January 31, 2022 at St. Joseph Living Center in Windham. He was born April 30, 1948 in Willimantic, CT to the late Marshall and Ellen Green and grew up in Columbia, CT.
John attended high school in Windham. He was drafted by the U. S. Army in 1968 serving two terms in Vietnam and was wounded in action.
He was employed by the State of Connecticut at UConn for 35 years, mostly in landscape, retiring in 2003. Upon retirement, he ventured in his long-time dream of traveling the country in his RV alongside his wife spending four summers volunteering for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Hodges Village Dam Park and Buffumbille Lake in MA.
His hobbies were camping, fishing, and shooting and was a member of the Fin, Fur, and Feather Club.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ruth Green of Ashford, CT; daughter, Cindy Lamay and her husband, David of Vernon, CT; brother, Harold Green and his wife, Maralyn of Windham, CT; two step-children; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Rita E. Green.
There are no calling hours. His funeral service with full military honors will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to K9’s for Warriors, 3585 Atlanta Ave. Hopeville, GA 30354.
