John Paul Garrison, of Chaplin, CT died peacefully in the Lord on October 16, 2015. He was born on July 7, 1929 to David and Lucille Garrison, one of eleven children. John along with his siblings were raised on the family homestead in Chaplin. John served in the Army during the Korean War. He returned from the war and raised his family. John worked in the construction business operating heavy machinery, and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. John was known in town as the man with a big heart. He is survived by his wife Doris of 64 years, two sons, Bruce Garrison and his wife Pat Tyler, of Ashford, and Roy Garrison and his wife Betty of Chaplin. Two sisters, June Nadile of Chaplin, Beth Cahill of NH; brother, Lee Garrison of Chaplin. He also leaves 6 grandchildren, Karie Johns, Brett Garrison, Sarah Garrison, Greg Garrison, Kevin Tyler, Melissa Tyler, and 4 great grandchildren, Jordan Johns, Megan Johns, Liana and Candace Garrison. A Funeral Service will be held at 6:00PM Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic, CT, and the family will receive friends one hour prior. Final farewells will be at the gravesite in the South Chaplin Cemetery, Rte. 198, Chaplin, on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 10:00AM.
