John Ereshena, 84, of Willimantic, beloved husband of Julia (Mercier) Ereshena, died Saturday, November 30, 2002 at Haven Health Center in Willimantic. He was born February 1, 1918 in Mansfield, the son of the late Theodore and Prufta (Marco) Ereshena. A lifelong resident of the area, Mr. Ereshena owned and operated Ereshena's Esso Station for 13 years; he also worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 17 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a life long member of both V.F.W. Gold Star Post 1724 and James J. Shea Post #19 American Legion. Mr. Ereshena loved to travel with his family and was also an avid photographer. In addition to his wife of 55 years he leaves 2 daughters, 2 sons, a son-in-law and a daughter-in-law, Pauline Taylor of Willimantic, June Henderson of Willimantic, John E. Ereshena of Willimantic and Paul Ereshena of Willimantic, 2 brothers, Walter Ereshena of Willimantic and Edward Nowak of Windham, 4 grandchildren, Monica Packer, Mark Barbero, Kevin and Christian Ereshena, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 6 brothers, George, Stanley, Peter, Harry, Frank and Michael Ereshena and a grandson, Edward Taylor. The family would like to give their warmest thanks to the Haven Health Center staff for the wonderful care they gave to Mr. Ereshena. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. prior to the procession to his Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Willimantic.
