John Jay Bogdanovich, 49, of Fitchburg, MA passed away January 9, 2011 at the UMass Medical Center Memorial Hospital, Worcester, MA. John was born in Norwich, CT on November 3, 1961, a son of George and Donna M. Bogdanovich of Ashford, CT. John served in the U.S. Army from March 1981 to March 1984.John was stationed in Fulda, Germany for 18 months and attained the rank of Corporal. Prior to John's honorable discharge at Fort Benning, GA, his NCO wrote a letter to the Commander, 197th Infantry Brigade in an effort to re-enlist John, the following; "CPL Bogdanovich has demonstrated positive leadership traits and given the opportunity would make a good NCO and continue to be a valuable asset to his unit and the United States Army." John was very proud of his service to his country and a proud U.S. Army veteran. John was employed in the food service business after his discharge from the army. In addition to John's mother and father, he leaves behind a sister, Janice O. Wehner and brother-in-law, Russell P. Wehner Jr. of Oakdale, CT, two beloved nieces, Evangeline, 5 years old, and Anastasia, 3 A? years old. John was their only uncle and as I was writing this, his niece Evangeline asked that I put in the newspaper the following; "Will you tell Uncle Johnny that me and Ana love him and will miss him very much." John also left many uncles, aunts and cousins. The funeral will be Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Philip the Apostle Church. 64 Pompey Hollow Rd. (Rte. 44) Ashford, CT 06278. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in John's memory be made to St. Philip the Apostle Church at the aforementioned address.
