Joel Robert Ivan

Joel R. Ivan, 64, of Chaplin, CT, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Windham Hospital. He was born on November 6, 1952 in France to the late Rudolph and Renee Rabon Ivan. Joel immigrated to the United States in 1957; becoming a citizen in 1976. Before his retirement in 2006, Joel was employed for 30 years at the University of Connecticut in the building services department. He loved to spend his time hunting and fishing until his illness. Joel is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Elaine Ivan; sisters, Edith Laflamme (Benoit), Jacqueline Marceau both of Windham, CT, Murielle Ivan- Marrotte (Christopher) of Hampton, CT; brother, John Ivan (Janice) of Hampton, CT. He is also survived by his wife?s family, Eleanor Russ, Barbara Russ and Earl Russ all of Windham, CT and several nieces and nephews. Joel also leaves behind his loyal four legged companion, Molly. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte.195) Willimantic, from 10:00am until we leave for St. Joseph Church for his Funeral Mass at 11:00am, with burial to follow at St Joseph Cemetery, Windham.
