Jody David Viets Calabrese, 45, of Eastford, beloved husband of Lori (Manso) Calabrese, a young man who was respected and appreciated by all who knew him, died at home Friday, 10/28/11, in the loving arms of his wife and children. He had bravely battled a brain tumor for over 10 years, and had three craniotomies, but finally succumbed to it when it became malignant. Jody developed a love for farming when as a young boy he worked on his Grampy (William) Viets' farm in East Granby, and traveled to other farms with him listening to the stories farmers would tell each other. He also developed an appreciation for good, wholesome food from his Grammy (Marjorie) Viets with the special breakfasts she would always prepare. He grew up in Eastford where he enjoyed Little League Baseball, Cub and Boy Scouts, and fishing at Crystal Pond. He graduated from Woodstock Academy and then the Radcliffe Hicks School of Agriculture at the University of Conn. He then went on to a long and rewarding career as an inspector for the State of Conn Department of Agriculture. He became an avid fan of UConn basketball, and like his Dad, loved NY Yankee baseball. He also very much enjoyed watching his beloved sport, Jai Alai, especially with his good friend Pete Clark. He became a committed and active Christian, and has been, along with his wife and children, a long-standing active member of the Baptist Fellowship Church of Columbia Conn where he served as a Deacon and videographer for their worship services. He leaves his wonderful wife Lori, who has lovingly cared for him, and enjoyed life with him, for over 10 years; their son, Zeph, whom he loved so much; and their adorable 6-year old triplets, Jodi, Evy, and ZoA
