Joanne L. (Bernier) Young, 85, of Willington, wife of the late Ira Young, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024 at the Mansfield Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation. She was born on April 28, 1939, the daughter of the late Joseph and Delina (Morrissette) Bernier. She worked for the State of Connecticut until her retirement. Joanne enjoyed her flower gardens, shopping and spending time in Louisiana and Vermont with her family. She opened her heart and her home to everyone, and friends became family to her, and nobody left with an empty stomach. A special mention for those who remained close, you know who you all are.
Joanne is survived by her children, Mark Young of Louisiana, Jolene Csiki and Dave of Vermont, Jackie Harrington and husband Doug of Montana, Darlene Laflamme and husband Daniel of Connecticut; brother Bruce Mercure of Maine and a sister-in-law Anne Mercure of Connecticut; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Mark Jr. and Krystal.
There are no calling hours. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
