Joan Sadlon, beloved wife of Emil Sadlon passed away Monday, December 1st at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Hamden, CT, the daughter of the late Helen and Carl Boerner. She was a 1951 graduate of the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing and was employed locally for many years as a registered nurse. Prior to her retirement she was a successful real estate broker. On September 15, 1951 she married Emil Sadlon and has since lived in Columbia where she has been well-loved by her family and friends. She was a member of the Columbia Congregational Church and the Hebron Daylighter Quilters gaining recognition for her gifted quilting skills. She loved sewing and quilting works of art to share with family and friends. She enjoyed a close game of Skip-bo and a hot cup of tea. But mostly, she took great pleasure in nurturing her children and grandchildren all of her life. Besides her loving husband Emil, she is survived by two sons, Andrew and his wife Diana Sadlon of Columbia, Kyle and his wife Penni Sadlon of Orange, MA and one daughter Debra and her husband Joe O'Connor of Brentwood, NH; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Joseph and Jonathan David Sadlon , Amelia and Stefan Sadlon and Shane and Katie O'Connor; one sister Alyce and her husband Harold Upton of Ashford, CT and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday December 4 at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic, CT followed by burial at the West Street Cemetery in Columbia, CT. Friends may call Wednesday, December 3 from 6 - 8 PM at Potter's Funeral Home.
