Joan Currier, 76, formerly of Chaplin, died Sunday October 12, 2014 at Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford, CT. She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Matilda (Wilt) Crane. Joan attended Buckley High School in Hartford and received her GED at a later date. She also received an Associate Degree from Quinebaug Valley Community College and was employed as a secretary for many years. Joan was a Past Worthy Matron in Frederica Chapter in Plainville #110 Order of Eastern Star, Past Worthy Matron in Willimantic Radiant Chapter #11 of the Order of Eastern Star and Past Royal Matron of Rainbow Court #20 Order of Amaranth. She was also an advisory Board member Southington Assembly #27 and Willimantic Assembly #26 International Order Rainbow for girls as well as pledge mother and state pledge mother. The family wishes to thank the hospital staff, especially the staff of Wooster 2 floor for there care. Besides her husband James Currier, she is survived by two sons; Steven Armand Charest and his wife Nadine and their sons Brian and Michael, Rodney Charest and his wife Marcie and their daughters Amanda and Jennifer; a step son Craig A. Currier and his wife Tasia and there daughter Samantha Nicole Currier and granddaughter Sophia A. Currier-Vik; two brothers Morris A. Crane and his wife Sharon and James Crane and his wife Margaret, two sisters Mary J. Crane and Margaret Crane. Joan was predeceased by a brother Henry Crane and her first husband Armand Charest and there daughter shortly after birth. Calling hours will be Thursday October 16, 2014 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm with an Order of Eastern Star Ritual at 7:30pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte.195) Willimantic.
