Joan Marie (Cadwell) Pestey

Joan Marie (Cadwell) Pestey of Franklin, CT beloved wife of James Robert Pestey, passed away on October 3, 2016 at Apple Rehabilitation Center in Colchester, CT. Joan was born in West Haven, CT on February 1, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Orrin and Carmelita (Flaherty) Cadwell. Joan graduated from West Haven High School Class of 1958. She then attended Eli Whitney Technical School in Hamden, CT where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse, and worked as such at New Haven Hospital as well as Sanibel Convalescent Home. She then worked at Kramer/Windham Middle School as the Guidance Secretary for many years until her retirement. Joan enjoyed being a part of her high school?s Drum Corps, dancing, crocheting, baking, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. She was an incredibly strong woman with a heart of pure gold, touching the lives of all that were fortunate to know her. Joan was caring to anyone and everyone she knew, thoughtful beyond measure, and loved an indescribable amount. She will be truly missed by each and every one whose lives she has blessed. Joan is survived by her husband of 52 years James Pestey, and four sons James Jr. and wife Nancy Pestey, Michael Pestey and fianc? Gillian Lyon, William and wife Jeannine Pestey, and Steven J. Pestey. Four granddaughters Brittany Pestey and fianc? Kevin Guinan, Kelly Pestey, Madison Pestey, and Alli Pestey; and one great-granddaughter Aubreigh Guinan. In addition to many in laws, nieces, and nephews. Joan is predeceased by a brother Thomas O. Cadwell. Joan?s family receive relative and friends on Sunday October 9, 2016 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Potters Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic.
