Jennie Elizabeth Dunnack

March 28, 1922 — April 2, 2015

The family of Jennie Elizabeth (Bowen) Dunnack sadly announces the passing of their mother, grandmother, and great grandmother on April 2, 2015. Jennie was born in Willimantic on March 28, 1922 to the late Clarence S. and Harriet (Vinton) Bowen. She was the loving wife of the late Henry Dunnack, sharing 46 years of marriage. Jennie grew up in Willimantic, attended Natchaug School, graduated from Windham High School in 1938, and proudly lived in the hill section of town her entire life. After graduation, Jennie worked for the American Thread Company and then Pratt and Whitney during WWll. After raising her children, she returned to the "Thread Company" where she worked until her retirement. Jennie enjoyed reading, walking throughout the city, and visits from her large and loving family. She was a lifelong baseball fan, following both the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees as well as an enthusiastic supporter of the UCONN Huskies basketball teams. She is survived by her children David and Sandra Dunnack of Mansfield, Mary and William Cutler of Gales Ferry, George and Virginia Dunnack of Willimantic, Michael and Eileen Dunnack of North Windham, John and Linda Dunnack of Willimantic, and Susan Kwastel of Storrs; her cherished grandchildren Joshua and Lisa Dunnack, Jeremiah Dunnack, Emily Dunnack, Hannah and Donell Jackson, Annie Dunnack, Cara Cutler and Joshua Grannis, Shelley and Roger Manning, Pamela Knapp, Kyle Dunnack and Lindsey Hepple, Brenna Dunnack, Haley Dunnack; 11 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her brother Clarence A. Bowen. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family for calling hours at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street, Willimantic on Tuesday evening April 7, 2015 from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning April 8, 2015 at 10am at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 220 Valley Street, Willimantic. Memorial donations may be made to Covenant Soup Kitchen, 220 Valley Street, Willimantic and WAIM, 866 Main Street, Willimantic.
