Jeanne Morascini Obituary
Jeanne E. Hochberg Morascini, 94, passed away from this earth to her eternal life on Sunday, September 3, 2023, in Hebron, CT Our beloved Matriarch and loving spirit is now at peace. Her life was one of service and dedication, A lifelong educator, she had a tireless commitment to working toward creating hope for peace and universal understanding.


Jeanne was born in Norwich, CT, and was raised between Windham, CT, and Boston, MA. She attended the Windham school system and then the University of Connecticut, where she earned a B.S. and M.A. Shortly after college, she joined the U.S. Women’s Army Corp. as a 2nd lieutenant, where she met her future husband, Anthony A. Morascini Jr. After discharge from the service, Jeanne and family moved to Willimantic, CT, where she began teaching; first in the Windham school system, and then the Mansfield school system, where she remained teaching until her retirement. Jeanne was selected as runner-up in the Connecticut State Teacher of the Year competition; She was a Theta Chapter President for 2 separate terms and also a Vice President and President of the State of CT chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society (an international honor society for key women educators in 14 countries). She was a Life member of the National Education Association and the recipient of The Mahatma Gandhi Peace Award given by the CEA.


She was the founder of the Curriculum of Hope for a Peaceful World Committee, which focused on promoting peace, protecting the environment, and celebrating diversity. This was a very passionate project she started in 1984 and continues to this day on a global level. Her message of Peace resounds with all who knew her. Jeanne was a third-generation Life Member of Hadassah for over 40 years; during that time, she was honored with The Hand of Healing. She was a member of the Holocaust Committee and an Honorary Life Member of Temple B’Nai Israel, Willimantic. She was also honored with The Human Rights Award by the Church Women United, Inc. She believed in a Universal message through all religious denominations. Holidays will never be the same, the family gatherings, the celebrations, she was the definition of a party- girl. Her wonderful regular get-togethers with her DDC friends (Dinner, Drinks, and Cards). Jeanne was an avid, if not rabid, UConn sports fan.


Jeanne is survived by her children, Anthony B. Morascini, James L. Morascini, and Lynne E.
Morascini. Her Grandchildren, Tony P. (Jill) Morascini and their children A.J. and Dylan. Sean
Skorton and his children Jade, Kira, Leon, and Maxx. Joshua Skorton. Adam Lehman, Christena (Billy) Centia, and children A.J. and Sienna. Sisters-in-law, Dolly Moore of Columbia and Carol Piscatello of Willimantic as well as 12 nieces and nephews from the Hochberg, Moore, and Piscatello families. Jeanne was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Anthony A. Morascini. Jr., sons David John and Jonathan Isaac; daughter Marianne Morascini; brother Dr. David Hochberg and Carol (Dee) Hochberg; brother-in-laws John V. Morascini, Marshall Moore, and Robert (Bob) Piscatello.


In honor of our party-girl, EVERYONE is invited to attend a celebration of Jeanne’s wonderful life on Sunday, October 22, 2023, from 12-4 p.m., at the Windham Golf Course, 184 Club Rd. in North Windham.


A private graveside service will be held for the family.
