Jean Kruger Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Kruger, of Mansfield, a beloved mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Jean passed away on September 25, 2023, in Storrs Mansfield, Connecticut.
She was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on March 24, 1933, moving to Ann Arbor, Michigan with her family while in grade school. Jean graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1951 and remained in the Ann Arbor area until moving to Storrs Mansfield, Connecticut in 2015. She spent the bulk of her career working for the State of Michigan, where her dedication and hard work made a positive impact. Jean’s favorite role, however, was the time she spent during her retirement years seeing many new and life-long friends as a greeter at Meijer’s on Jackson Road in Ann Arbor. She was a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed playing bingo and the slots. After moving to Connecticut Jean was proud of her role as an alto in the Mansfield Senior Chorus and relished every opportunity to perform. Her time in Connecticut also led to her love of jewelry making and UConn Huskies Women’s Basketball.
Jean's legacy is carried on by her devoted sons, Eric (Lisa) of Coventry Connecticut, Mike (Susie) of Rangely Colorado, Tim of Ypsilanti Michigan, and Brian (Roseanne) of Grosse Pointe Michigan. Jean's love also extended to her nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and to her sister Marcella Berger of Livonia Michigan. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Gerald Kruger, who passed in 2004 and her son, Chris Kruger of Stockbridge who passed in 2019.
A private memorial service will be held later.
