Jean-Paul Blanchette, 68, of Willimantic, died peacefully July 29, 2009 at St. Joseph Living Center, Windham. He was born July 6, 1941 in Sherbrooke, PQ, Canada. He has now joined in Heaven his parents Rita and Paul E. Blanchette, his sister Jeannette Blanchette and nephew Denis Blanchette. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Jeannine Blanchette, two daughters Louise Couch and her husband Michael and Christine Werth and her husband Steven; three grandchildren Sandra Blanchette, Zachary Couch and Dylan Werth; a step granddaughter Amanda Couch and a great granddaughter Yaritza Pedraza. He is also survived by brothers Serge and his wife Mary of MA., Denis of Windham, Roger and his wife Debra of Chaplin; many nieces and nephews and many family members in Canada. Jean-Paul was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed being with his family and making people laugh. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing in a band in Canada, hunting with his brother Denis , camping and fishing. He was a 3rd and 4th Degree lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus San Jose Council #14. He had served in the Army of Queen Elizabeth in Canada from 1956 to 1964. In 1965 he came to Connecticut with his family. In Willimantic he had been employed by American Thread Co., Brand Rex and then Kendall Corp. for many years. The family would like to say thank you to St. Joseph Living Center for the wonderful care they gave Jean-Paul. He is loved! He will be greatly missed! His family will receive relatives and friends at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Monday Aug. 3rd between 6:00 and 8:00pm. Interment services will be private at a later date in New Willimantic Cemetery. In lieu of memorial donations, his family has requested that Masses be said in his memory at either St. Mary Church or St. Joseph Church in Willimantic.
