Jean (Fitts) Hatch, 79, of Willington, CT., wife of Gordon C. Hatch, died Thursday March 15, 2007 at Windham Hospital. She was born April 18, 1927 in Willimantic, CT., the daughter of the late John and Ethel (Walker) Fitts. Jean had enjoyed raising Shetland Ponies and miniature horses continuously since 1931. She was a member of the American Shetland Pony Club and was a recipient of their People Hall of Fame Award. Jean was also a 4H Club Leader for many years. As a direct descendant of Governor Bradford of the Mayflower, she enjoyed genealogy. In addition to her husband, Jean is survived by 3 daughters and sons in law, Brenda Hatch Ludwig and Ric Ludwig of Greenville, SC., Holly Jean Decker and Bruce Decker of Barrington, NH. and Patricia Kay Hatch-Reinertson and Richard Reinertson of Franklin, MA.; a brother Kenneth Fitts of Mansfield, CT., 12 grandchildren and a great grandson. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday March 22, 2007 in Storrs Cemetery, North Eagleville Rd., Storrs,CT. There are no calling hours.
