Javier Hernandez Obituary
Javier Hernandez Serrano, known affectionally as “Jay” to his friends and family, passed away on October 9, 2024, in New London, Connecticut. He was born on December 13, 1955, in Manhattan, New York to the late German and Georgina (Serrano) Hernandez.
Jay was active member of the Willimantic Knight of Columbus Council #14, a member of Sagrado Corazon De Jesus Church and loved to play the bongoes in the Spanish Afro-Caribbean musical group Bentetu.
Jay is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sonia (Cruz) Hernandez. Together they raised three children: Javier Omar Hernandez, Omar Alexander Hernandez, and Yadelys Hernandez. Jay also loved being in the company of his 12 grandchildren: Alexandra, Vanessa, Anthony,Veronica, Xiomara, Jomar, Javon, Jonathan, Jomayra, Alennox, Divina, and Omayra. Jay also leaves his dear sister, Nuria Hernandez.
Jay will be remembered as a loving husband, and a devoted father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 11:00am at Sagrado Corazon De Jesus Church, 61 Club Road, Windham, Connecticut.
