Janice Stuart Palmer, loving and devoted wife of 50 years to her best friend and high school sweetheart, Henry A Palmer passed away peacefully on Friday July 21, 2017 at her home in Storrs, CT after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the proud mother of Robert Stuart Palmer of Storrs, CT and Scott Andrew Palmer of Boston MA, grandmother and "Nonnie" to Caitlin Oriana and Madison Olivia Palmer of Storrs. Born in Albany, NY on June 22, 1935, she was the daughter of Marian A. and Donald A. Stuart and sister of the late Bruce A. and Donald A. Stuart. After relocating to Storrs with her husband, she started her career at the University of Connecticut as a secretary in the School of Agriculture. After the better part of four decades she retired as an executive assistant within the administration. In addition to spending time with family and friends, she loved puzzles, gardening and was an avid fan of UCONN Women's Basketball. She was an active and dedicated member of the Storrs Congregational Church for more than 50 years, ushering at weekly and holiday services, assisting with the Sunday School, and serving on numerous committees. She enjoyed time with family and friends in Hilton Head, SC as well as at their summer cottage on Cape Cod. Her warm heart, loving spirit, kindness, and generosity was evident through not only the love she showed friends and family but also through her support of numerous charitable organizations. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 2:00pm in the Storrs Congregational Church, 2 North Eagleville Rd., Storrs. There are no calling hours with private interment.
