Jane (Burnett) Wheelock, 90, of Bloomfield, formerly of Coventry, wife of the late Dexter Crandall Wheelock, died Thursday Feb. 23, 2006 at John Dempsey Hospital, Farmington. She was born Feb. 1, 1916 in Chelsea, MA. the daughter of Robert Field Burnett and Agnes Marian (Jones) Burnett. She was a 1939 graduate of Mt. Holyoke College . Jane worked with her late husband in the operation of the family business, Automatic Coffee Service of CT. She was a volunteer at Windham Hospital and also for Literacy Volunteers. As a member of the First Congregational Church of Coventry, she taught Sunday School there. Her love throughout her life beyond her family was sailing. She is survived by a son Dexter Wheelock and his wife Linda M. Wheelock of Vernon, 2 daughters Judy Soule and her late husband David G. Soule of Holland, MA. and Anne Sedgwick and her husband Stephen Sedgwick of S. Dartmouth, MA.. She is also survived by a brother Richard Burnett of Oneonta, N.Y., a sister Marion Wilcox of MT. Morris, N.Y. and Paisley, FL.; 5 grandchildren, Christopher Peck, Kimberly C. McLaughlin, Matthew Crandall Sedgwick, Brian Field Sedgwick and Danyelle R.S. Sedgwick; and 3 great grandchildren, Megan E. McLaughlin, Haley A. McLaughlin and Melinda Jane McLaughlin. She was predeceased by a brother Robert E. Burnett of Mystic and a sister Mildred St.John of Cincinnati, Ohio. There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday Feb. 28, 2006 at 3:00pm at the First Congregational Church of Coventry, 1171 Main St. Coventry, with Rev. Dr. Bruce Johnson officiating. Burial was private in Center Cemetery, Coventry.
