Jane Haney

Jane Lounsbury Haney, 80, born in Bristol, CT to Clifford C. Lounsbury and Mae (Loranger) passed from this life on May 22, 2014 due to a recent illness at her home in Windham, CT. She was the former owner and President of C.C. Lounsbury, Inc., a successful trucking and lumber company founded by her father in 1924 which hauled utility poles for Southern New England Telephone Co and Northeast Utilities. In 1993, Jane was elected the first Chairwoman of the Board for the Motor Transport Association of Connecticut, in addition to serving on the Board for 20 years. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Nutmeg Broadcasting Company and was secretary of the Crystal Pond Association. She was also a member of the Finnish American Heritage Society of Canterbury. Jane's hobbies were shooting skeet, gardening, cooking for others, enjoying her home and spending time with her family. She leaves behind her two children, Karen Tompkins Diop and Clifford E. Tompkins along with her two grandchildren, Sarah Griffin of Guilford, CT and Samantha Bramberger of Tampa, FL, husband Aubrey J. Haney and former husband Leonard B. Tompkins. She also leaves behind her brother, Clifford (Skip) Lounsbury, a sister, Dawn Visintini and was predeceased by her brother Alcott Lounsbury. Jane also leaves behind nephews Clifford and Sean Lounsbury, Paul and Kipling Visintini and a niece Sara Lounsbury The family would like to thank the staff at Windham Hospital and St. Joseph's Living Center for their considerate and loving care Jane's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday May 28, 2014 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Her funeral services will be held Thursday May 29,2014 at 11:30am at the funeral home, with burial to follow at New Willimantic Cemetery.
