James T. Taylor, 81, of Mansfield Center, husband of Federica (Ferri) Taylor, died Tuesday August 31, 2004 at the Windham Hospital. He was born August 15, 1923 in Southbridge, MA, the son of Arthur and Ellen (Thomson) Taylor and had lived in Mansfield for 52 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Willimantic. Mr. Taylor began running in his 40?s and has completed the Boston and New York marathons several times. He has won numerous trophies in the Master?s Class of many other races. He inspired and encouraged many people to begin running as a healthy hobby. Prior to his retirement in 1988 he was employed for many years at United Nuclear in Montville. In addition to his wife he is survived by 3 children and a son-in-law, Marilyn Taylor of Wethersfield, James Taylor of East Hartford, Linda and Bill Grenon of Norwich, 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Eleanor Toth of Mansfield and Billie Stearns of Mansfield, many nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Rte. 195, Willimantic Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic with assembly at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to a charity of the donor?s choice.
