James Stearns Obituary
James Willard “Jim” Stearns, 68, of Mansfield, husband of Katherine Stearns,  passed away peacefully, at home, on Sunday afternoon, March 7, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Willard and Billie (Taylor) Stearns.  Jim had several health issues but he was strong and determined to keep fighting many setbacks through the years.

Jim resided on Stearns Road all his life. He was a 1970 graduate of E. O. Smith High School and attended ECSU.  Jim was an owner of the family business, Mountain Dairy, retiring in 2015. He loved his family, friends, softball, old cars, traveling, and life.

Jim was a proud member of the Mansfield Lion’s Club, serving as Treasurer, and enjoyed organizing the car show at their annual Fall Festival held at Holiday Hill. He served on the State of Connecticut Milk Promotion Board and the State Milk Regulation Board, Department of Agriculture. He loved playing on many Willimac Softball Teams, most recently the Legends Team and Windham Elders team for those 65 and up.

He will be forever missed by his wife Katherine F. Stearns, daughter Leigh T. Stearns and fiancé Jason E. Nass, daughter Alyssa T. Stearns and son Robert S. Stearns;  sisters,  Barbara S. Leary (Leo) and Ellen S. Charney (Dennis). He was predeceased by his brother David C. Stearns and a niece Cindy Leary;  he was also survived by many nieces and nephews, D. Kyle Stearns, Erin S. Chanterelle, Haley S. King, Billie Kay Roland, Luke Charney, Brock Charney, Taylor Charney, Bart Charney, and Cheryl Smith. He also leaves behind our loves, Danielle Voight (Katie), Kelly Jewell (Chris) and little ones, Betsy and Dotti, and his best friend, Norberto Gonzalez. We will all hold our memories of him deep in our heart.

Due to Covid 19, there are no calling hours.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mansfield Lions Club, PO Box 543, Mansfield Center, CT 06250.
