James M. Spec Shea, 67, of Willimantic, husband of Sandra (Pomprowicz) Shea, died Friday November 23, 2001 at the Windham Hospital. He was born January 29, 1934 in Willimantic, son of the late Thomas and Lena (Kennison) Shea and was a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Windham High School where he served as class president and a member of the basketball team. He was employed for a time at Butler s Mountain Dairy and was a member of IBEW Local 42. Mr. Shea then was employed for 25 years at Eastern Connecticut State University from which he retired in 1997. He ws a member of the Willimantic Moose Lodge and took great joy in watching his grandsons play football and baseball. He was much loved by his wife and seven children. In addition to his wife he is survived by 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Michael Gunter of Charlestown, RI, Pamela and James Hooper of Willimantic, 5 sons, David Shea of Willimantic, John Shea of Willimantic, Jimmy Shea of Sterling, Peter Shea of Willimantic, Kevin Shea of Willimantic. a sister, Joan Beaudoin of Willimantic, 4 brothers, Elmer Shea of Columbia, Thomas Shea of Tamarack, FL, Richard Shea of Willimantic, Francis Shea of Willimantic, 16 grandchildren, Garrett and Dewey Gunter, James, Jason, Paul and Katie Shea, Jessie, Shannon and Chelsea Shea, Eric and Kyle Hooper, Levi and Brandy Shea, Aaron, Jennifer and Matthew Shea, many nieces and nephews including a special nephew Rodney Coriarty. He was predeceased by a sister, Hazel Coriarty and a brother, Leo Moe Shea. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9 a.m. for procession to the celebration of his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Willimantic. Burial will follow in the Windham Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Windham Dialysis Unit, 375 C, Tuckie Rd. North Windham CT 06256.
