James "Jim" Edgar O'Neill, of North Windham, passed away at Windham Hospital May 2, 2013 at the age of 78. Jim was predeceased by his parents, William and Sarah O'Neill, his siblings William, Henry, Thompson, Rachel, David, Margaret, Ernest, Robert, Clayton, and Mary, and his granddaughter Shea Lynn Cooper. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Eleanor O'Neill. They were married in New Brunswick, Canada, in 1959. Jim is lovingly remembered by his daughters; Angela Smith and her husband David, and Karen O'Neill, his brother, Allenby O'Neill, his grandchildren; Cynthia Oldham and her husband Justin, Stephanie Beckert, Stacy, Stephen, and Shannon Bergeron, Samuel Cooper, Spencer Bourque, and his great-grandchildren Cassidy and Arianna Gonzales, and Bodie and Tatum Oldham. Jim was born in New Brunswick, Canada, July 18, 1934. He served in the Canadian Army from 1953-1956. He and his wife moved to Willimantic in 1971. He worked as an electrician at Colt Firearms in Hartford for more than 30 years. Jim enjoyed coffee breaks with his friends, going for drives to see "what was going on", watching game shows, playing cards, playing the lottery, and spending time with his family. He was very talented in his workshop where he made his daughters and grandchildren many treasures. A memorial service will be held at The First Congregational Church of Willimantic, on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at 1 p.m. Burial will be held in Gladwyn, New Brunswick, at a later date.
