James Lyman McKenna Sr., (aka PA) 80 years old, ascended into heaven to be with his beloved wife, Geraldine (Angell) McKenna on Friday, May 23, 2008 at Windham Hospital in Willimantic, CT. James was born in Coventry, CT and resided most of his life in the home he built for his family in 1952 in Mansfield, CT. For his final months he was a resident of Harrington Court Nursing Home in Colchester, CT. James leaves behind seven children, Mrs. Linda J. Smith of Columbia, Mr. James and Lissa McKenna Jr. of Cape Fair, Missouri, Mr. John and Melody McKenna Sr. of Gypsum, Kansas, Mrs. Alice and Robert Avery Sr. of Mansfield, CT, Mrs. Carol and Alton Tilley Jr. of Washburn, Maine, Mrs. Patti Ann and Michael Spaulding of Storrs, CT and Mrs. Ruth and Brian Waite of Mansfield, CT. He also leaves behind 23 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren, two brothers, Mr. Clyde and Evelyn McKenna of Mansfield, CT and Mr. Kenneth and Marie McKenna Sr. of Uncasville, CT and numerous nieces and nephews. James was a carpenter for most of his life and after retiring he drove bus for F. E. Smyth Bus Company for the town of Mansfield. Calling hours for family and friends will be Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the New Willimantic Cemetery.
