James N. Ladd Jr., 66, of Coventry, husband of the late Dawn (VanNostrand) Ladd, died Friday March 5, 2004, at the Windham, Hospital. He was born September 8, 1937 in Plattsburg, NY, the son of Nelson and Dorothy (Wing) Ladd Sr. and had lived in Coventry for the past 35 years. Mr. Ladd was well known in the greater Windham area as a banker, beginning his employment at the Willimantic Bank & Trust Company and rising to the level of Vice President at the Savings Bank of Manchester from which he retired in 2000. He was an active member of many professional and charitable organizations including serving as a corporator of the Windham Hospital, a member of the board of directors at Natchaug Hospital, a member of the Willimantic Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Northeast Economic Alliance, W.A.I.M. and as an administrator for many years of the Willimantic Welfare Bureau. Jim was also very involved in Coventry town politics, serving in various capacities. He is survived by 3 daughters and their spouses, Marjorie and Michael Vrabel, Kathleen and Paul Dimock, Robin and Eric Uthgenannt, all of Coventry, a special friend, Alice Stone of Plymouth, MA, 3 sisters, Nancy MacCormack of Norfolk, VA, Martha Jones and her husband Ed of Poland, NY, Susan Facteau of Plattsburg, NY, a brother-in-law, Leslie VanNostrand of Dover Plains, NY, 4 grandchildren, Benjamin Uthgenannt, Taylor and Andrew Dimock, Madison Vrabel, many nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic on Monday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Coventry, 1171 Main St. Coventry.
