James Wilson Knox, Jr.

James W. Knox, Jr., 81, of Puyallup, Wash. entered a new life on March 6, 2016. "Jim" or "Bill" was born in Hartford, Connecticut on December 29, 1934. He grew up in Hartford and in Columbia, Connecticut on his much loved Columbia Lake. Jim proudly served in the United States?Army?based in Germany and Beirut during the first Lebanese Crisis. Jim returned and went to work at The Hartford Electric Light Company. In 1999, Jim retired from Northeast Utilities, having started as a young man working in the Underground and concluding a 46 year career as a Senior Systems Analyst. Jim's knowledge of the operating system was beneficial to many new engineers, as well as writing programs still used to this day. Jim and his wife, Linda, then moved to Camano Island, Washington next to the Puget Sound. In 2013, they moved to Puyallup to be next to their young family. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James W. Knox and Marjorie E. Knox; and his sister, Betty Jo Knox Tuttle. He leaves his loving wife, Linda Austrom Knox; his dear daughter, Jennifer Knox Penwell and Sean P. Penwell, son-in-law; a wonderful grandson, Colby A. Knox; a sweet granddaughter, Grace L. Penwell; two special step-grandsons, Graham Penwell and Carson Penwell; a dear son, George Preston Knox; and, a granddaughter, Savannah R. Knox. A graveside memorial service will be held in at the West Street Burying Ground in Columbia, Connecticut on June 2, 2018 at 11:00AM.?We, Jim's family, give thanks for the very special home caregivers and Hospice Multi-Care for their excellent care. Memorial contributions may be made to Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
