James Lincoln Hammett Jr., 68, of Cocoa Beach, FL, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in New Hampshire. He was born August 2, 1943 in Willimantic, CT, the son of the late James Lincoln Hammett and Kathryn (Campbell) Hammett. He was a graduate of Windham High School, received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, his MS of Engineering from Cornell University and a MBA from Babson College. He traveled the world while working for Exxon designing and implementing process control systems for oil refineries. Later he founded Hammett and Hammett Inc. dba EntrAC. Computer Center in Timonium, MD. Jay volunteered his time by assisting the community in preparing taxes through AARP, he volunteered as a mentor and tutor for local high school students, served as president of the local French Club and worked on Green Projects for the State of Florida. Jay enjoyed traveling and learning new languages, he spoke six languages fluently, loved animals and getting together with family. Jay is survived by his brothers Jon and Paul Hammett and their spouses, his sister Linda Ashley of Bedford, NH and her husband and several nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be Tuesday May 1st 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Windham in Windham Center. Burial will follow in Windham Center Cemetery.
