James F. Devlin

August 14, 1923 — August 11, 2006

James F. Devlin, 82, born in Rockville on Aug. 14, 1923, passed away on Aug. 11, 2006 at Windham Hospital from injuries received in an automobile accident. Prior to moving to Columbia in 1977, he resided in the Rockville and Hartford areas for 52 years. He worked for The Hartford as a pressman and supervisor for 35 years. Jim was a veteran of World War II as a machine gunner in the 128th Gun Battalion with four campaigns in the European Theater of Operations. He was a life member of the American Legion and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1724. Jim was also a 25 year member of the Retirees Club of The Hartford and was a lifelong Red Sox fan. He was predeceased by his much beloved wife Eleanor (McKinstry) Devlin. His survivors include his step son Bruce Fox, his daughter in law Joyce Fox, his grandson Jeffrey P. Fox and his wife Mayra and their son Andres. He is also survived by his sister and brother in law Julie and Alex Laska and their children. Lastly he leaves behind many friends and acquaintances who enjoyed his company, kindness and gentlemanly manner. His family will receive friends at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Tuesday between 5:00 and 7:00pm. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00am in Center Cemetery, Rte. 87, Columbia.
