James R. Avila, 31, of Griswold, the son of John and Celia Avila of Franklin, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010 in Griswold. He was born June 25, 1978 in Windham, grew up in Franklin and was a 1996 graduate of Lyman High School. Jim had been employed at the Wireless Zone in Norwich for the past ten years. In addition to his parents he is survived by a brother, Edward Avila and his wife Donna of Canterbury, nephews Shawn Deroko and Ian Avila, three uncles, Charles Avila and his wife Deborah of Chaplin, David Avila of Southbury and Christopher Avila and his wife Jodi of Old Town, ME, two aunts, Margie McCabe and Betty Lou Brown, both of North Carolina. He was predeceased by a brother, John Charles Avila in 1977. His family will receive relatives and friends at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Franklin Congregational Church, Franklin.
