Jacquelin Brown Obituary
Jacquelin A. (Wight) Brown, 87, of Storrs Mansfield, CT passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 13, 2024 at Chestelm Health & Rehabilitation Center in Moodus, CT. She was born July 2, 1936 in Castine, ME, the daughter of the late Frances (Clark) McHenry and Linwood Wight.
She spent most of her young life in Maine; the latter part was spent helping her mother run the Overlook Convalescent Center in Farmingdale, ME. Jackie loved music, singing, and playing the guitar in her church youth group. She married her high school sweetheart Fred Brown and together they raised five children. Jackie continued her education after high school and became an LPN, later she pursued a career as an X-Ray Technician at Middlesex Memorial Hospital in Middletown, CT. Upon retirement from Middlesex Hospital Jackie was Office Manager for Dr. Tom Begin in Deep Reiver, CT and after moving to St. Croix, USVI she was Office Manager for Dr. Andruz. Jacquelin was well-loved by her coworkers, friends, and family.
Jacquelin is survived by her children Mark Brown and his spouse Bonnie, Jeffrey Brown, Keleigh Seitz and her husband James, Steven Brown, and Lisa Rich, Grandchildren Jeffrey Brown and his spouse Ashley, Benjamin Brown and his spouse Jenna, Mark Brown and his spouse Angelina, Tiffany Thornock and her spouse Coltin, Robin Stevens, Tara Ward and her partner Ryan, Erin Wilson and her husband Abe, Joshua Ward and his partner Destiny, Vincent Zachariah Shumbo, Olivia Moore and her husband Kenneth, Jacquelin Shumbo and her partner Chris, Natasha Lawrence, Kelsey Marsalisi and her husband Joey, Great grandchildren Oscar Brown, Sasha Jeffery Brown, Toby Jeffery, Andy Jeffery, Sabina Jeffery, Aubrey Brown, Hailey Brown, Adalynn Thornock, Bryson Thornock, Declan Thornock, Maliyah Thornock, Christian Heil, Cyrus Heil, Stephen Blazejewski, Grace Smith, Laurel Smith, Jonah Seymour, Joshua Ward and his partner Marissa, Evelin Ward, Jackson Ward, Eleanor Ward, Aurora Ward, and Avery Lawrence.
She was predeceased by her brother William Wight, former husband Frederick Brown, longtime partner Leslie and her granddaughter Felicia Shumbo. Jacquelin leaves behind a beautiful legacy and will be greatly missed.
There are no calling hours. Her Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 11:00 am at the SGI-USA Center, 27 Church St. New Haven, CT 06510. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SGI-USA Center.
