J. Douglas Cameron

J. Douglas Cameron (Doug or J.D.) Born August 1, 1946 to Kenneth and Margaret (Cosgrove) Cameron in Fall River, MA. Died December 10, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT after a long illness. He leaves his wife Susan Chace of Scotland, CT, sister Grace Cameron and partner Craig Schug of East Hampton, CT, brother Bill and Kathy Cameron of Kensington, CT, brother Ken and Nancy Cameron of West Boylston, MA and brother David Cameron of Newington, CT. In addition he leaves niece and nephews, Cindy Jones, Bill Goff, Bill Cameron, Bryan Cameron, Dana Cameron and Patrick Cameron and two great nephews. Doug graduated from Nichols College and received his Masters Degree from the University of Hartford. His career in the field of accounting was varied and included non-profits, an airline, manufacturing and Insurance. He worked at Orion Capital Corp from May of 1981 to December of 1995 and earned a CPCU designation. He retired from Orion as a Vice President of Accounting. Following his work at Orion, he was a consultant for private business and municipalities. He also served the Town of Scotland as the Town Treasurer, as a member of the Planning and Zoning Board and also as a representative to the Eastern Highlands Health District. Doug will be remembered by many for his unique personality, love of a good joke and riding his Harley Davidson Road King. He will be missed by many that knew him over the years. Doug was on the Transplant list at Yale-New Haven Hospital and was an eye and tissue donor. There will be no calling hours. Doug's life will be celebrated with family and friends at a gathering to take place in 2014.
