Irving S. Langworthy, 87, of South Windham, devoted husband of the late Edna (Deuel) Langworthy, died Monday April 28, 2003 at the Windham Hospital. He was born April 14, 1916 in Pawcatuck . He was retired from the University of Connecticut after many years of employment there. He previously owned and operated a chicken farm in South Windham. Many years ago he donated linen grain bags to the hospital, which were transformed by his wife and other members of the Ladies Auxiliary into bed linens. Mr. Langworthy was a member of the South Windham Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Fire Police and also of the South Windham Congregational Church. He is survived by a son and daughter in law Donald L. Langworthy Sr. and Kim E. Langworthy of Largo, Fla., a daughter Judy McKain of Wales, MA., 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00pm with his funeral service beginning at 7:00pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial donations to the American Diabetes Assoc., Connecticut Memorial Processing Center, P.O. Box 31160, Hartford, Ct. 06150-1160.
