Irma A. Rood, 84, of Windham Center, wife of the late Frank A. Rood, died Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at the Windham Hospital. She was born November 5, 1921 in Willimantic, the daughter of the late William and Jennie (Wilcox) Anthony. Prior to her retirement several years ago she was employed as a secretary for the Windham School System. She was widely known in the Windham area for her cheerful spirit and love of animals. She will be sadly missed by all who ever knew her. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by their son Jeffrey Rood. She is survived by 2 brothers, Stuart Anthony of Huntington Beach, CA, Derwin Anthony of Naples, FL, a sister, Geraldine Arnold of Huntington Beach, CA, a brother and sister-in-law, Maurice and Madelyn Thompson, a sister-in-law, Evelyn Burdick of South Windham, a brother-in-law, James Rood of Albany, NY, several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held in the Windham Center Cemetery, Friday, February 17, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Windham Center Fire Dept. P.O. Box 265, Windham, CT 06280 or the First Congregational Church of Windham, P.O. Box 102, Windham, CT 06280.
