Irene E. (Ducharme) Monroe, 84, of Chaplin, died Sunday Nov. 23, 2003 at St. Joseph Living Center, Windham. She was born Sept. 19, 1919 in Willimantic the daughter of the late Noel Exerias Ducharme and Elsie (Cardin) Ducharme. She was a World War 2 Army veteran serving with the WACS. Irene had been employed for over 30 years by the American Thread Co. retiring at the closing of the mill. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Willimantic, a former volunteer at the Windham Textile and History Museum and enjoyed completing crossword puzzles. She is survived by 2 daughters Kathleen Monroe of N. Windham and Judith Linkkila of Chaplin, 2 granddaughters, Shawn A. Lacourse of Colorado and Erika C. Linkkila Datri of Colchester and 3 great grandchildren, Malaya Osuba Lacourse and Joshua and Noah Lacourse. Funeral services will be private with no calling hours. Please omit flowers.
