Irene L. Mastrangelo, 79, of Willimantic, widow of Thomas J. Mastrangelo, died peacefully on Wednesday Nov. 16, 2005 at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born July 3, 1926 in Grant Town, W. VA. the daughter of Alexander and Sophia (Duh) Lawrence. Irene and Thomas owned and operated the Italian Villa Restaurant on Rte. 44 in Mansfield for many years and later, the Villa Spirit Shoppe at the same location. Irene also worked in the area as a realtor. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by 2 daughters, Gina Burnham of Mansfield and Laurie Mastrangelo-Simmons of Norwich; 2 beloved granddaughters, Christina Robins and her husband Joseph of Wilmington, N.C. and Courtney Simmons of Norwich; 2 brothers, Alex Lawrence of Willimantic and John Lawrence of PA.; 2 sisters, Goldie Spucci of Wilton and Esther Washko of PA.; and several nieces and nephews. Her family will receive friends at the Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic on Sunday between 2:00 and 4:00pm. Her funeral service will begin at 4:00pm with the Rev. Brad Evans officiating. Entombment will be private at Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Hartford.
