Irene E. Hansen

Irene E. (Marrotte) Hansen of North Windham/Lebanon, wife of the late LeRoy Hansen, died on January 31, 2013 at 94 years of age. Born May 14, 1918 in Willimantic, CT, she was the daughter of the late Myrtie (Burgess) and Edward Marrotte. Mom attended local schools and was a graduate of Windham High School. She married LeRoy on October 19, 1940, in Willimantic, they enjoyed 48 years together before his passing in 1988. Together they raised four children. She leaves a daughter, Sandra and husband Robert Chalifoux, of Lebanon/Oakdale, three sons, Daniel and wife Joanne ,of Florida/Windham, Carl and wife Linda, of Florida and Guy and wife Patricia of Lebanon. She also leaves her grandchildren, Robert and Glenn Chalifoux of Lebanon, Ryan and Eric Hansen of Florida, Chad Hansen of Mississippi, Kyle Hansen, of Florida, and Stacee Hansen of Lebanon , Elaine Miller, Sheila Fowler and John Selleck of Coventry; her great grandchildren, Jamison Mitchell of Norwich, Nicholas Chalifoux (her little boyfriend) of Lebanon, Tyler Hansen, Olivia and Adam Hansen of Florida, Hannah and Harley Hansen of Florida, Cydnie and Cyaira Hansen of Mississippi, Taylor Hansen of Florida and Samantha Fowler of Coventry. Mom also leaves her sister Beatrice (Marrotte) Swol of North Windham/Florida and many nieces and nephews. Mom leaves her faithful friend Florence Wentworth who visited her every Friday for many, many years. Besides her husband, and parents she was predeceased by her sister Helen Thompson. The family would like to thank all the staff at Douglas Manor for their care and concern for our "Mom". They are the "angels" of this earth. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday Feb. 5, 2013 between 9:30 and 10:30am with a service beginning at 10:30am at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic.
