Irene V. (Josefowicz) Cichon, 94, of Willimantic, CT, beloved wife of the late Stanley F. Cichon passed away peacefully Thursday Dec. 17, 2015. She was born on Oct. 8, 1921 in Willimantic, daughter of Anthony and Sophie Josefowicz. Irene was employed by Electro Motive Manufacturing Co., Windham Town Hall and later in her life by The Lewis Insurance Agency. She attended St. Joseph Grammar School, was a 1939 graduate of Windham High School and was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. She was a lifelong member of Willimantic Country Club where she had been club champion several times. During her life she worked tirelessly in her gardens, enjoyed Sunday breakfasts at the VFW, Saturday night church dinners, traveled the world, and enjoyed her escapades at the casino with her daughter Dianne. In the last year of her life, she spent her days with her special Angels "Kelly, Jessi, Linda and Jane" who lavished her with massages, manicures, hairdos and special meals not to mention her favorite dessert "Coconut Ice Cream". She still managed to do "her work" every day breaking bread for her birds while laughing with the "Golden Girls". She loved listening to Jane read her Sam's journals of their world travels while soaking up the sun on the back porch. She was a very wise, loving and compassionate woman. She is survived by her son John Cichon and his former wife Jane Cichon of Willimantic, her daughter Dianne Cichon of Willimantic, grandson Jared Cichon and his wife Angela and their children Anthony and Owen all of Columbia, CT. She was predeceased by two brothers, Steve Josephs and Stanley Josephs. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Monday Dec 21, 2015 between 10:30 and 11:30 am at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic prior to the celebration of her Funeral Mass at 12:00pm at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic.
