Irene Emily Carrol Vargas

Irene Emily Carrol (Reuthe) Vargas of Windham Center, born June 5, 1939 daughter of the late Gustav and Ella (Willard) Reuthe, passed away at home on June 14, 2013. After a long tenure as a phone operator with the Southern New England Telephone Co. in the switching station on High Street in Willimantic, she took a job with Rogers Corporation in South Windham, and there she stayed, retiring after over 30 years. You would be hard-pressed to ever meet a woman with an equivalent work ethic. She is survived by her daughter Carrol (Reuthe Vargas) Waite of North Windham, a grandson Brad Waite of Hampton, a brother Frederick Reuthe and his wife Phoebe of Ormond Beach, Florida and their son William Reuthe. She was predeceased by a daughter, Dawn Elizabeth. Burial in the Windham Center Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your favorite charity in her memory.
