Iola Mae (Houghton) Jakoboski, 89, of Cook Hill Road, Lebanon, beloved wife of Walter, died peacefully at home on Friday February 28, 2003. She was born in Montana on December 3, 1913 to the late George and Jesse (Look) Houghton; she was predeceased by one brother, Orest Houghton. Iola was a long time resident of Lebanon and taught second grade until retiring in 1982. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Lebanon, the Lebanon Historical Society, the Lebanon Community Chorus and one of the founders of the Summer Youth Orchestra. She was an avid walker, conversationalist, photographer, gardener, cellist and pianist. She fully appreciated the beauty of the day and was a spiritual inspiration to all who know her. She is survived by her husband Walter, a sister-in-law, Opal Houghton of Melbourne Fl, she leaves behind five children, Walter of New Fairfield and his wife Judiann and their children Christopher, Nicholas & Stephanie, Jean of North Windham and her children Justin and Aaron Dubina, Donald and his wife Jan of Tolland, children Julie and Derek, Paul of Coventry and his wife Wendy, children, Josh, Matt, Lisa, Caroline & Rebecca, Philip and his wife Linda of Tolland, children Joseph, Sabrina, Jennifer & Brian. She also leaves behind one great grandchild, Jadon. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday March 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Lebanon, Rte. 207, Lebanon. Burial will follow in the New Lebanon Cemetery, Waterman Rd.
