Driantafle "Rose" Calder, 92, of Mansfield Center, CT beloved wife of Clarence R. Calder, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2015 at the Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born in Salem, Massachusetts to the late Pandora and George Vasilakopoulos. Rose graduated from Salem Commercial Business School and the John Robert Powers School, and studied at Northeastern University. Over the years she was employed at Harvard University, Northeastern University and the University of Connecticut, but her true love was spending time with her family and friends. She was a wonderful homemaker and a devoted wife to her husband, Clarence, and enjoyed raising their family together in Mansfield Center and going to events at UCONN. Rose also loved to travel, cook Greek food and entertain. Rose and Clarence enjoyed traveling together throughout the United States and internationally. They especially loved exploring Hong Kong, Greece, England and South America and took numerous cruises. In addition to her husband of 57 years, Rose is survived by her son, George C. Calder and his wife Linda of Granby, CT; her sister, Mary Kelly of Pepperell, MA; her son-in-law, David DelVaglio of Suffield: as well as four beloved grandsons, Andrew Calder, Glen Calder, Nicholas DelVaglio and Zachary DelVaglio. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Catherine Apostolides and her daughter, Christine DelVaglio. The family will receive family and friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street (Rte. 195) Willimantic, CT. The Funeral will be held on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Three Hierarchs Greek Orthodox Chapel at the University of Connecticut, 28 Dog Lane, Storrs, CT.
