Hugh J. MacKinnon, 63, of North Windham, husband of Patricia Ann (Pekarovic) MacKinnon, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at Hartford Hospital. He was born June 15, 1939 in Bangor, Maine, the son of the late Hugh and Dora MacKinnon and had lived in Windham all his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran and very active in various veterans' organizations including the D.A.V. and Amvets. He was employed by the Town of Windham as an Auxiliary Police Officer, Civil Defense Director, Animal Control Officer and Veteran's Advisor. In addition to his wife he is survived by 3 children, Dawn P. Fournier of Willimantic, Mark Q. MacKinnon of North Windham, Tammy Elizabeth Bernier of Lebanon, a sister, Arianna Chobot of Tolland, 8 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, James MacKinnon. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Valley St. Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Windham. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association,P.O.Box 31160, Hartford, CT 06150-1160.
