Howard Samuel Lewis died at home in Rutland, VT on Saturday, October 3, 2026. He leaves a daughter, Autumn Snow, mother, Helen Koehn, stepfather Uwe Koehn and his terrific brother, Geoffrey Lewis, as well as numerous friends and other relatives.

He graduated with a BS in Environmental Science from the University of Connecticut. His love of the outdoors, especially skiing and hiking, drew him to Vermont at an early age. He loved his daughter, Autumn, deeply. In spite of turmoil, illness and being a single parent, he encouraged and strongly supported her efforts and accomplishments in drawing, painting and the theater.

Sam was a gentle and generous soul. To know him was to love him even though sometimes frustrated by him. He walked to a beat of his own drummer.

Sam will receive relatives and friends on Friday, October, 30, 2026 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St., Willimantic.
