Howard Kirschenbaum

July 24, 1966 — January 8, 2015

Howard Kirschenbaum died on January 8, 2015, after a valiant battle against the ravages of pulmonary fibrosis. Howard was born on July 24, 1966, and grew up in Mansfield where he attended school and graduated from E.O. Smith High School, class of 1984. After graduation Howard worked at a number of jobs in the construction and home repair trades followed by a five year stint with Asplundh Tree Service. He then attended school to become an automobile technician. This gave Howard the opportunity to join the team at Gates GMC Nissan in North Windham, where he worked with great pleasure for 21 years with the wonderful people at that organization. Words seem inadequate to express the sorrow felt by the loss of Howard. He loved life and enjoyed it with his large family and huge number of magnificent friends. Howard enjoyed a good ride on his motorcycle with Brenda and some of his buddies, often riding to the shore for seafood. Howard is survived by his wife Brenda, who will remember and love him forever. He was predeceased by his mother, Lesley Kirschenbaum, who died almost exactly two years ago as a result of the same pernicious disease, Brenda's father, Pops Mooney, and his nephew Jimmy Mooney. Howard is mourned by his father, Arthur Kirschenbaum and his companion, Cheryl Pomerantz, his sister, Marjorie Pim and her husband, Scott and their children, Haskel and Emmet, Brenda's mother Beverly, Brenda's brother Larry Mooney and his wife Janice, their children, Ashley and Gregg, Brenda's brother Glenn Mooney, and his daughter Janelle, Brenda's sister, Laurie Keegan and her fiancAC. Tony Boucher, and Laurie's daughter Shannon, as well as Howie's brothers, Brian Christopher, Eddy Caye, and Mike Leavins. The loving team at Gates GMC Nissan has lost a key player. Many, many others, too numerous to mention here, have known and loved Howard for his laid back, easy going , calm and generous demeanor and will always know that his memory will a blessing in their lives. Funeral services will be at Temple B'nai Israel, 345 Jackson St., Willimatic, CT, on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive visitors at the temple at 9:00 a.m. It is preferred that flowers and gifts not be sent to the family.
