On June 13, 2014, Hilda Iris Negron was welcomed into Jesus' arms. She was born in 1940 in Aibonito, PR to the late Maria Rivera and Teodoro Maldonado. In 1957, she met the love of her life, Ramon Luis Negron, whom she married in 1959. In 1974 the Negron family moved to Willimantic from Hartford due to our father having been made pastor of the Iglesia Cristiana Pentecostal de Willimantic. She supported her husband's 17-year ministry and also made it part of her calling. She studied theology at the Instituto Biblico Emanuel. She was a devoted wife and mother, maintaining a beautiful home with four children, one of them having been born with a disability - Osteogenesis Imperfecta. She was a great cook, sewer, crocheter and had the knack for crafts. These talents she put to good use to make extra income for the home and for the church. Mami did a lot of volunteer work in Willimantic serving on the Puerto Rican Organization Program's Board of Directors, volunteering at WAIM, working at polling places on election day, visiting the sick in the hospital, nursing homes and at their homes. Our mother was an avid reader, who loved poetry and reading a wide range of topics. She had a deep appreciation for music and the arts. She had a beautiful soprano voice, loved to sing, composed Christian music and wrote plays. Her faith never wavered and is what brought her comfort and strength to the end. . Mami had six children, two of whom she lost at birth. She leaves behind her husband, Ramon Luis Negron, her daughter, Ann and cherished grandson, Joshua of Willimantic; her oldest son, SSG (Ret.) Ramon Luis, Jr. (United States Army), his wife Amelia, along with her cherished grandchildren: Sugely, Ramon Luis III, Rosa Iris and her husband, Omar, Josue?Javier and his fiancee, Thuy, Lizbeth, Leslie and Natalie all from GA; her youngest daughter, Yolanda of Willimantic and her youngest son Josue., his wife Rosemary and her cherished grandchildren: Zesmery and Xavier.
