Brother Henry Clarence Hollis Sr. departed this life on Monday, May 20, 2002 at Windham Hospital. Born in Brighton, AL, Henry was the 2nd son of the late Rush and Ella (Harris)Hollis. He attended the public schools of Harris County, graduating in 1961 from Harris County High School, Hamilton, Georgia. He leaves to cherish his loving memories three sons, Craig Whitehead of Hartford, Henry C. Hollis Jr. and stepson Anthony Mitchell of Willimantic, a daughter, Juliette "Judy" Givens and her husband Lambert of Hartford, 3 grandsons, Anthony Mitchell, Eddie Mitchell and Lambert Givens Jr, 4 granddaughters, Kiera Givens, Destiny Hollis, Natasha Mitchell and Monet Mitchell, 2 sisters, Mary (Willie) Bussey and Betty Washington, both of Waverly Hall, GA, 8 brothers, Charlie (Mary) Izeal (Alice), Athur (Debra), Johhny Hollis, all of Hartford, Rush Jr. (Lucille) of Las Vegas, NV, James (Anita) of Warner Robbins, GA, Donald (Ethel) of Korea and Kenneth (Teresa) Hollis of Cataula, GA, 23 nieces and nephews, 7 aunts, Precious and Mary Hollis of Waverly Hall, GA, Ethel Chambliss of Birmingham, AL, Lizzie Holmes, Mamie Kimbrough and Hattie Butts all of Columbus, GA, Lizzie Hollis of Hartford, 3 uncles Fred Holmes of Cataula, GA, James Holmes of Talbottom, GA and Callier Holmes of Columbus, GA, mother-in-law Darris Mitchell of Willimantic, 4 sisters-in-law, Stella hunter, Ruby Mitchell of Willimantic, Clara Noble of Chicago, Martha Mitchell of Madison, WI, 3 brothers-in-law, William Mitchell of Greenville, MS, Marvin Mitchell of Willimantic, Oscar Mitchell of Washington, D.C. and his beloved friend Lillie Mae Ruggs. In addition to his parents he was predeceaed by 3 brothers, Emmit L., Benjamin L., and Bruce T. Hollis and his late wife Bertha Hollis. Upon moving to Willimantic and being led by the Holy Spirit, Henry united with the Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Sanders. He labored in many capacities such as the Deacon's Board and Choir. He was employed for over 35 years as a butcher at Copaco slaughter house and Colchester Packaging Company. Henry will be missed by a host of family, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. The funeral service will be held on Tueday at 1:00 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, 412 Valley St. Willimantic. Burial will follow in the New Willimantic Cemetery. His family will receive friends at the church for 1 hour prior to the service.
