Henry Becker

Henry Becker, 88, of Hampton, husband of the late Irene (Harakaly) Becker, died Wednesday July 6, 2005 in Windham. He was born July 28, 1916 in Willington, the son of Henry and Tekla Becker and had lived in Hampton most of his life. Prior to World War II he was a welding instructor at Ellis Technical School in Hartford. He joined the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1945 and was a member of American Legion Post 106. Following the war he owned and operated an excavation business for a time and prior to his retirement was employed at Becker Construction in Willington. Mr. Becker was a charter member of the Hampton-Chaplin Ambulance Corps, a former selectman of Hampton and a member of Uriel Lodge #24. He was an avid gardener who loved to give away produce, a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather to his family. He is survived by 5 children, Henry Becker and his wife Melanie of Willington, William Becker and his wife Diane of Hampton, Frank C. Becker and his wife Joanne of Hampton, Jane Cushman of Hampton, Linda Ulm and her husband Jerry of Bozrah, a brother, Lawrence Becker of West Willington, 2 sisters, Bette Becker and Blanche Vosselor and her husband Charles, all of Tampa, Fl, 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife he was predeceased by his daughter, Georgia Rondeau. A graveside service with military honors will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the North Cemetery, Hammond Hill Rd. Hampton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hampton-Chaplin Ambulance Corps, P. O.
